Women by nature are queens and deserve all the respect and deference that goes with the title. That’s why, writes author Elatha Weems, they should heed Weems’ advice and, when it comes to picking men, not “settle for less.”

Sharing takeaways from four toxic relationships, Weems says that her painfully acquired wisdom (such as not caring for someone else more than herself) strengthened her resolve to ensure that other women didn’t make the same mistakes. Weems bolsters her arguments by sharing advice from her grandmother (who advocates that women dress and act discretely) as well as quotes from Scripture that she amply sprinkles among her book’s pages.

Weems’ own experiences give her words some credibility. And many of her observations have the ring of good common sense (i.e., “Don’t allow anyone to control you.”) But there are some big chinks in her armor of beliefs. She complains that there are still plenty of double standards for male and female behavior, yet then proceeds to dish out her own. No doubt many women (and men) will cringe when they read that men, by nature, cannot be good stay-at-home dads simply because they can’t multi-task as well as women.

This type of rogue assumption degrades Weems’ message. She bemoans the fact that men don’t treat women with the respect that they did in the past. But it’s a good bet that many women will gladly open doors for themselves and accept a degree of profane language in their presence rather than hearken back to a time when the world accepted unequal pay and the inability to vote for women.

Readers who can suspend judgment on the authors’ checkered beliefs will find some useful nuggets. Most others will be too turned off to listen.

                               God  Blessed  Me

When He Gave Me You

He knew that I needed someone who would love me true, and give their love only to me all the year through.

He chose a beautiful flower, and Tashica is her name, and ever since we met I haven't been the same.

I know that it has been said many times before, that behind every successful man there is a woman encouraging him on. I feel that this is true for me, since the meaning of Timothy is honor, because you made me feel that I can do anything. Now, that I have my queen to help me be the man, that I want to be. I truly feel like a king.

And I know that the Lord will be with us, because the scripture states that: Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth  favour of the Lord, and his word is still true even today.

So, love each other and God will bless your home. with his  help you cannot go wrong.

              The Life Of A Veteran

Many have asked for many years, who is a veteran? It is someone who answers a call  to do more than to just think of themselves, when his country is in need.

It is a great sacrifice that is not taken lightly, because in answering the call one has to give up many things. A veteran is required to leave at a moment notice and to travel to faraway lands, not knowing what will happen when he arrives there.

It is a job that is greatly needed to give support and to ensure the safety of many, however it is not for everyone, since there are many who will want to quit when things get tough, but it is not a job that one can leave whenever she wants.

That is when a veteran has to remember why he is there and what he is required to do, to complete the mission, that he was sent to do.

Sometimes they are required to give their lives for someone else to be free and there are other times their minds are affected, because of what they have seem with flashbacks and bad dreams.

So, on this day and many to come, thank a veteran for your freedom, because the men and women that served in the military have given you a gift that keeps on giving.
